Creative Curriculum©

We have chosen the Creative Curriculum© based on its developmentally appropriate approach to learning.

The Creative Curriculum© is based on 38 objectives for development and learning that are aligned with the NC Early Learning Standards. This all-encompassing curriculum covers STEM, language and literacy, social skills, physical development, and the arts, with a focus on critical thinking.

The philosophy behind the Creative Curriculum© is that young children learn best by doing. Learning requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work, and to understand firsthand about the world in which we live. Our goal in using the Creative Curriculum© is to help children become enthusiastic learners. We encourage children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and think their own thoughts. We want to help children become independent, self-confident and inquisitive learners. We’re teaching them how to learn, not just in preschool, but all through their lives.

We incorporate additional resources to allow our teachers to have access to numerous tools for lesson planning and implementation. Our theme-based lessons will last anywhere from 2-6 weeks, depending on the topic and the children’s interest level. Lesson plans are posted outside each classroom so that you can stay involved in your child’s daily activities.

Conscious Discipline©

We recognize that developing a child’s social competencies enhances his/her ability to succeed in school, in work, and in life.

Conscious Discipline© is a relationship-based, community model for helping children develop problem solving and self-regulation skills. It has been proven to improve the quality of teacher-child interactions, improve the school climate, and can lead to increases in academic readiness and achievement, which is why we have chosen to implement these strategies into our classrooms.
